Carribean Fragoza

Carribean Fragoza is a writer and artist. She grew up in the peripheries of the Greater LA region and outside of Chicano communities of East LA that have largely come to define Chicano identity, including in culture and literature, that has shaped her literary approach. She is a graduate of the Creative Writing MFA program at California Institute of the Arts. Fragoza is the prose editor of Huizache Magazine. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in numerous publications including BOMB, the Los Angeles Review of Books, the New York Times, and the most recent issue of American Short Fiction.
Eat the Mouth that Feeds You, is Caribbean Fragoza’s debut collection of stories set in the domestic surreal, featuring an unusual gathering of Latinx and Chicanx voices from both sides of the U.S./Mexico border, and universes beyond. The work has received the Whiting Award and was recognized as a finalist for the PEN America Literary Award.
